Welcome to Kirsle Throwback! This is a “new old website” by Noah Petherbridge where I document and keep links to useful “Retro Computing” resources for fans of vintage operating systems such as Windows 3.1 and Windows 98. See my About page for an introduction, and my Contact page to see what else I’m up to online. This website contains a curated and opinionated list of resources for playing around with historic operating systems. A lot of the drivers and applications available here are ones that I gathered over the many years as I played with these old OS’s in various kinds of virtual machines. I have some old Operating Systems, Drivers & Tools, and some Apps & Games that run on these old systems. Notably, I have gathered the latest versions of software such as Firefox and WinZip which are known to still support some of the older operating systems. Check out my Setup Guides for getting these old systems up and running again in emulators! I also have a Bookmarks page of Cool Websites I found which either support legacy operating systems (giving their clunky old web browsers something to do in 2026!), or which revive old web services such as Windows Update or AOL Instant Messenger to get some historic old software to work again. Definitely stop by and check out that page! Recent PostsLaunching my new Throwback Website!Today I have launched throwback.kirsle.net, a “New Old Website” about Retro Computers. This website is about old operating systems such as Windows 3.1 and Windows 98, and about the Old Web of the 1990’s to early 2000’s that coincided with these old operating systems. So, this website serves as a resource to download vintage software & drivers that can get these old OS’s running on modern systems (in emulators), and a directory of cool websites online that bring back online services and support for these older systems as well! |
